THE OPPORTUNITY

The Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Investments will be accountable for asset risk ma n ag ement and will directly ma n ag e a dedicated investment risk staff responsible for ensuring asset risk is identified , measured, monitored , and ma n ag ed across the portfolio. This is an enterprise-wide risk ma n ag ement role which encompasses credit risk, Fx r isk, ma rket risk, liquidity risk and capital ma n ag ement. The role involves working with multiple cross-functional colleagues within Global Atlantic, as well as executives at KKR, the company’s parent, to identify and escalate risk issues to senior ma n ag ement and the Global Atlantic Risk Committee.

The CRO, Investments will be a steward of the company's policies and procedures for the ma n ag ement of assets.  They will be responsible for assisting the Chief Risk Officer with proposing, developing, and updating asset risk policies to the board of directors and risk committee of the board and will be expected to assist in advocating all board committee actions necessary to ensure comprehensive, relevant, and effective risk governance. The Investment Risk function will assist in ensuring the delivery of regular, independent risk monitoring, measurement, analysis and reporting to ma n ag ement and the board of directors. The position will assist the Chief Risk Officer with setting key economic assumptions, particularly with respect to risk scenarios used to calibrate implementation of risk policies, appetites, and limits, ensuring they are used consistently throughout the firm in risk ma n ag ement and key risk-taking decisions.

The CRO, Investments will be a member of Global Atlantic's executive risk leadership group. REPORTING RELATIONSHIP      

The CRO, Investments will report to Global Atlantic’s Chief Risk Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the CRO, Investments include but are not limited to the following:

  • Working closely and collaboratively with the Chief Risk Officer to identify the strengths and weakness of the organization’s risk ma n ag ement framework; design and implement a coherent risk strategy and best practices to best meet the needs of the organization.
  • Identifies the company's key risk exposures across the portfolios, continually scanning for and monitoring new and developing risks while simultaneously leading risk assessments of new investment proposals.
  • Oversees the asset portfolio acting as the senior Global Atlantic risk ma n ag er for all asset classes ranging from structured securities, fixed income, direct lending strategies, mortgage products, and alternatives.
  • Leads the development and ma intenance of quantitative analytics to support the ongoing risk monitoring framework for investments.
  • Leading a team of risk ma n ag ement executives across investment, capital, credit, ma rket, and liquidity risk functions.
  • Enforcing risk policies, capital credit and liquidity risk limits, in partnership with the Chief Risk Officer.
  • Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, at Global Atlantic and KKR, and influencing and negotiating to drive change.
  • Identification and ongoing analysis of Global Atlantic's key risk exposures across the risk spectrum; scanning for and monitoring of new and developing risks and trends.
  • Delivering regular, independent risk monitoring, measurement, analysis and reporting to senior ma n ag ement, and the Board of Directors.
  • Developing and ma intaining healthy relationships with the various regulatory authorities by keeping them advised and supported and negotiating with them as required .
  • Participating in the preparation of regulatory filings, board ma terials, risk reports and risk/capital analysis.
  • Collaborating effectively with the Chief Investment Officer and investment teams as well as with colleagues across actuarial, finance, and legal.
  • Promoting the company’s culture of continuous improvement.


Experience & Qualifications

  • 15+ years of relevant financial services experience.  Specific background in investment risk ma n ag ement gained within a ma jor financial institution; capital ma rkets and investment risk ma n ag ement experience strongly preferred.
  • Understanding of trading and ma rket risk function and processes - including but not limited to experience with credit products, interest rates, direct lending, foreign exchange, credit value adjustment hedges, securitized products, and agency lending.
  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations around concentration risk.
  • The ability to link related risks across different risk pools; a demonstrated ability to view data holistically.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, analytical, presentation, facilitation, negotiation, and strategic skills.
  • Proven ability to obtain support and buy-in across a wide range of internal and external audiences.
  • Project ma n ag ement experience with the proven ability to develop project plans to achieve milestones and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal; must have the ability to ma ke highly quantitative concepts accessible to a range of audiences.
  • Entrepreneurial and action oriented; comfortable and effective in a fast-based environment where talented people are dedicated to driving results.
  • Working knowledge of Tableau and MS Office software proficiency required .
  • Bachelor’s degree along with a CFA/MBA/FSA or other quantitative risk designation.

Various jurisdictions have passed pay transparency laws that require companies provide salary ranges for any positions for which they are accepting applications. Global Atlantic has offices in Atlanta, Batesville, Bermuda, Boston, Des Moines, Hartford, Indianapolis, and New York City. The base salary range posted below is inclusive of the lowest cost of living geography to the highest in which we have a Global Atlantic office.

Global Atlantic’s base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic’s total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, long-term incentives (equity), generous benefits (including immediate vesting on employee contributions to a 401(k), as well as a company match on your contributions), and sales incentives. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Compensation for our more senior positions have a larger component of short-term cash bonus and long-term incentives.

The base salary range for this role is

$220,000—$425,000 USD
