Denver Botanic Gardens is currently seeking a Seasonal Community Relations Programs Assistant in our Marketing and Social Responsibility Department Department! Read below to see if the requirements might be a good fit for you:

Position Summary

This position supports the Community Relations team, reporting to the Associate Director of Community Relations within the Marketing and Social Responsibility Department. Responsibilities include assisting in the planning of programs that improve community relations and access to Denver Botanic Gardens. The role serves as on-site support during programs and events, requiring a proactive, solution-oriented approach in interactions with community partners, colleagues, and visitors.

This is a part-time, seasonal role of 24 hours weekly, with an anticipated start and end date of May 10 - August 16, 2024.

Requirements:

General Duties and Responsibilities

  • Schedules, manages, and coordinates group visits to the Gardens as part of The Clinton Family Fund Go2Gardens Free Shuttle Program.
  • Assists with programs day-of-operations including set-up, greeting guests and instructors, and tear-down.
  • Troubleshoots issues during shuttle visits or events and provides feedback from community members.
  • Assists with program reporting for donors including photography, video documentation and written reports.
  • Develops positive relationships with organizations, businesses, and community members.
  • Updates and maintains the community partner database.
  • Performs administrative tasks such as budgeting and monitoring the community relations inbox.
  • Maintains regular attendance at the worksite, with remote work subject to management discretion.
  • Regular attendance at the worksite may be required. As with all positions at Denver Botanic Gardens, the incumbent must be in good performance standing to be eligible for remote work. Remote work is at the discretion of management at all times.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite products, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook and Teams.

  • Must work with respect and cooperation at all times with fellow employees and the public.
  • Must be committed to working safely at all times.

Experience/Education:

  • Bachelors degree and/or combination of education and equivalent experience in marketing, communications, event planning, or related field is preferred.
  • Internship or prior experience in Community Relations is beneficial.
  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in customer service, event planning, or related experience required.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English/Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Proven track record of working effectively with diverse audiences, spanning from young children to senior adults.

Travel:

Up to 10% travel required. Requires the ability to travel to remote locations (or other Garden locations) where environment may vary significantly.
