Job Description Summary

The Process Development Lab Leader will oversee equipment and operations for an additive manufacturing development lab maturing next generation components for GE Aviation. The successful candidate is expected to operate in a cross-functional team environment consisting of design engineers, materials engineers, specialists, and technicians.

 

 

Job Description

  • Establish and maintain safe standard operating procedures in a development lab environment in partnership with EHS, facilities and engineering teams
  • Coordinate engineering process development equipment maintenance, installation, upgrades etc
  • Manage consumable and raw material inventory, budgets and ordering
  • Schedule and assign operators to complete planned experiments according to business priorities
  • Utilize a broad experience base to plan and execute process development programs within defined technical requirements, costs, and schedules
  • Interface with a multidisciplinary team to define technical approach and required resources to assure program requirements and overall objectives are met through strategic planning
  • Apply specialized knowledge/skills to prepare and implement project plans in support of lab process equipment or operations in conjunction with the appropriate internal and external support organizations
  • Communicate status and problems to project team and leaders
  • Document results, participate in program reviews and prepare invention disclosures where appropriate
  • Work collaboratively with the broader process development team by respecting common work spaces and shared resources as well as providing training and direction to others on a regular basis
  • Lean mindset with emphasis on streamlining processes

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in manufacturing or engineering from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 8 years experience in a relevant environment or an Associates degree in manufacturing or technology with a minimum of 12 years or relevant experience
  • US Citizen or permanent resident

  • Experience procuring, installing, operating and maintaining a wide range of manufacturing equipment
  • Familiarity with Lean concepts and tools
