ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY

Information Security Analyst



ABOUT THIS POSITION



Summary: This position functions as an Information Security Analyst as part of a dynamic team of IT professionals to assist with the development and implementation of robust security measures to identify, assess, and mitigate potential cybersecurity risks. The position will focus on security incident response, process creation/documentation, and system administration of enterprise grade security systems including vulnerability scanning tools, Microsoft M365 Security Solutions, spam/phishing prevention, and endpoint security solutions.


This position will work in a highly collaborative environment with administrative staff and faculty, business departments, system administrators, and computer support staff. While this position generally works normal business hours, on-call duties and some after-hours work may be necessary.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Contribute to the development and implementation of technical security solutions including performing modifications to security configurations and system administration of M365/A5, vulnerability scanning, and endpoint protection security tools.


Respond to security incidents including the remediation of serious malware and phishing incidents, communicating with necessary stakeholders during and after an incident.


Monitor and audit the identity and access management systems deployed at the University to ensure compliance with security policies and procedures, disposition oof privileged system accounts, and Active Directory security setting configurations.


Configure system vulnerability scanning tools, run scans and analyze results to ensure identified vulnerabilities are properly mitigated by university and service-provider network and system administrators.


Assist in the preparation of tabletop security incidents and simulated cyber events as part of information security.


Document information security processes through information gathering and discussions with appropriate IT staff and other departments.


Evaluate the effectiveness of security process improvements and security controls implemented, to include appropriate testing and monitoring, during implementation and ongoing, and documentation. This position will establish scheduled and on-demand reporting that will be used by IT staff.


Participate in various information system projects to represent security interests. This includes responding to audit and requests for security reviews of new and existing technical solutions, as well as recurring security efforts such as account lifecycle.


Provide situational awareness reports as it pertains to the University's security posture to be delivered to upper management and other departments.


Other duties include the modification of security configurations, employee training, and participating in audits of regulated data.


Contribute to information security awareness initiatives. This position will also be expected to provide security advice to the IT Department and other University staff.



Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information security or related technical field



    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience

  • Experience with the support and administration of Information Technology systems and services in a higher education environment

  • Experience with computer vulnerability and network penetration testing using tools such as Nessus, or other industry standard vulnerability scanning solutions.

  • Understanding of firewalls, proxies, antivirus, and Intrusion Detection and Prevention System concepts.

  • Familiarity with information security breach protocols and response techniques.

  • Knowledge of IT security administration involving Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Azure in an enterprise environment.

  • Experience with researching, evaluating, testing, deploying, and maintaining information security solutions.

  • Experience with managing enterprise anti-virus solutions, security scanning, and testing solutions.

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting, Single Sign-On, Multi-Factor, and Passwordless Authentication.

  • Industry Information Security Certifications such as Ethical Hacking, Cyber Security, Information System Security, and others.
