General Description

A Operational Risk Analyst is responsible for using accounting, auditing, and investigative skills to analyze financial records and uncover discrepancies, fraud, and other financial crimes. This role involves examining financial statements, conducting thorough investigations, and presenting findings in a clear and concise manner, often for legal proceedings. Operational Risk Analyst play crucial role in litigation support, fraud detection, and risk management. This position requires a detailed-oriented, ethical, and analytical profession who can navigate complex financial data and provide critical insights in both corporate and legal environments.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Financial analysis – analyze financial data, project budgets, and cost estimates to quantify financial losses and evaluate financial positions.
  • Document examination – scrutinize financial documents, such as invoices, receipts, contracts, and bank statements, to ensure accuracy and detect any irregularities.
  • Litigation support – provide litigation support by preparing detailed reports and analyses that can be used in legal proceedings.
  • Compliance review – ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards during financial examinations.
  • Risk management – assess financial risks and recommend measures to mitigate potential financial crimes and improve financial integrity.
  • Consultation and advice – advise on financial matters, settlement negotiations, and the financial implications of various decisions.
  • Message relation – ability to present findings clearly and concisely, both in written reports and verbally, to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Data analysis proficiency – expertise in using data analysis tools and techniques to examine large volumes of financial data.
  • Detailed oriented documentation – determination and tenacity to follow complex trails of financial transactions their conclusion.
  • Ethics and integrity – commitment to confidentiality and professional conduct.
  • Financials – ability to support the project teams with financial management.
  • REA (request for equitable adjustment) – validating costs and resolving government disputes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Skilled in basic MS Office Software (Outlook, Teams, Excel, and Word).
  • Ability to perform tasks in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Ability to use ethical judgement and integrity in handling sensitive financial information.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to financial compliance.
  • Ability to collaborate with legal professionals, clients, and other stakeholders.

  Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a accountant role.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English language.
  • Travel as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) designation

  • Lifting: Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.
  • Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions and variety of physical conditions – proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electric current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Atmospheric conditions: fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
