Job Description

Upper School Biology & Chemistry Teacher for 2025-2026

We are looking for a highly qualified educator for a Biology and Chemistry teaching position in the Science Department at the Upper School (grades 10–12). The job entails teaching honors level biology (either Honors Molecular and Cellular Biology or Honors Evolution and Ecology, and Chemistry. Additionally, depending on section enrollment from one year to the next, we seek a teacher who can offer one or more advanced biology electives, such as Genetics & Biotechnology, or Research in Molecular Genetics, or others, with the flexibility to modify existing curricula. A willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team of 2-6 instructors is essential.

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Zoology, Physiology, Marine Biology, Ecology, Environmental Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field; MS or Ph.D. preferred
  • Ability to teach advanced-level biology courses and chemistry courses and flexibility to teach elective courses based on departmental needs and personal interest
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate concepts in a clear and concise manner, and to foster an innovative and creative learning environment.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset for working with colleagues to create, develop, and implement science curricula
  • Experience teaching in a laboratory setting and supporting students as they develop skills to discover, explore, and analyze scientific concepts while working cooperatively with peers
  • Enthusiasm for becoming an active member of our vibrant school community, broadly engaging with students and colleagues, and occasionally attending events outside one’s particular field of study

Compensation:
Anticipated base compensation is $85,000 - $110,000 depending on experience. The position will begin in August 2025 for the 2025-26 school year.
