More Perfect Union is an advocacy and journalism organization with a mission to build power for the working class. We cover politics, policy, labor, business, and economic news through a class lens, and we pair our reporting with activism to help working people win policy fights. Launched in February 2021, More Perfect Union’s coverage has garnered more than 500 million video views and 2+ million followers and subscribers. 

We are looking for a Video Producer Fellow who will work with our newly created Quickturn team to conceptualize, produce, and script news-driven videos on a quick timeline, specifically for TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube Shorts, as well as short explainer videos for YouTube. 

Video storytelling skills are essential for the role as well as a passion for, and experience in content ideation, scripting, and pre-production; production (including conducting interviews and on-camera work); and post-production. The Video Producer Fellow will be working on a range of video formats across social media platforms, including breaking news coverage, videos from the picket line, on-camera explainers, and concise, shareable YouTube shorts emphasizing a strong point from our longer-form content.

The Video Producer Fellow must be immersed in and excited about the process of telling stories through video, with the technical and narrative skills to create powerful stories that hook viewers and keep people watching to the end. The position requires a high level of self-sufficiency, strong collaboration and communication skills, and a desire to help develop and grow our brand.

Core Responsibilities: 

• Conceive of, produce, and script original videos for our social media channels, with an emphasis on vertical video, short explainers with experts, and videos documenting strikes and union drives; 
• Pull video clips, b-roll, news headlines, images and other media for scripts;
• Provide research assistance, fact checking and copy editing on video scripts;
• When needed, identify interviewees, interview subjects, write scripts, record VO or shoot direct to camera for quickturn pieces;
• Work with our producers to break down longer, produced pieces into compelling short-form content;
• Receive assignments from supervisor and colleagues for prompt action;
• Operate in a nimble environment;
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications: 

• An excellent scriptwriter, producer, storyteller and collaborator, with strong interpersonal skills;
• Regular user of social media, in particular TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube;Passion for, and substantial knowledge of, 
• national politics and economic justice issues; 
• A self-starter who pays close attention to detail and is highly organized and capable of meeting tight deadlines;
• Available full-time hours and able to excel in a remote - work from home environment.
• Proficiency with Adobe Premiere a plus;
• Proficiency with in-platform editing tools on TikTok and Instagram a plus;
• Interest and experience in on-camera work in news or explainer videos a major plus
